Not at all. While skilled professionals like doctors, teachers, and engineers are always welcome, UNDA has roles for everyone. If you have a willing heart and a spirit of service, there is meaningful work waiting for you in Upper Nkongho Mbo from community support and logistics to documentation and outreach assistance.
Volunteer placements are flexible and tailored to your availability. Short-term visits typically run 1–4 weeks and are ideal for project-based contributions. Medium-term placements of 1–3 months allow for deeper community integration and more sustained project work. Remote volunteering supporting communications, and fundraising has no time constraints and can be done from anywhere in the world.
The safety and wellbeing of our volunteers is our top priority. UNDA provides detailed pre-travel guidance, coordinates safe transportation to the villages, and ensures every volunteer is supported by a local community contact from arrival to departure. Our team — who are Mbo natives — knows the region intimately and will ensure you feel welcome, safe, and looked after throughout your stay.
UNDA does not charge a programme fee. However, volunteers are responsible for their own travel costs, accommodation expenses, and any personal spending during their stay. We do our best to connect volunteers with local, affordable accommodation options and to ensure your time is as cost-effective as possible. We can also provide a formal invitation letter to support visa applications where required.
